John Tabet brings more than 25 years of experience in financial services and wealth management, serving clients by providing perspective, plans and strategies that help individuals and families face the future with anticipation rather than apprehension.
John began his career in the discount brokerage field during its infancy back in the late 1980’s, working at TD Bank in fixed income and equity trading, managing the day trading and new issues retail desk and serving as a key supplier to brokers and advisors across the country. The explosion in retail client activity and the ‘new’ phenomenon of day-trading provided insight into market emotion and investor psychology, and taught John disciplines related to entry and exit strategies and the dangers of focusing exclusively on media-driven daily volatility. He went on to serve as National Sales Manager at CIBC Wealth Management, working with fee-based private wealth managers who focused on long-term investment strategies, and later managed a national team of mutual fund wholesalers. These experiences provided insight into portfolio construction and other fee-based services that were structured to deliver objective, transparent, client-focused advice. Together, these roles gave John broad perspectives on wealth management, have shaped the nature of his investment advice, the structure of how he works with clients, and ultimately led him to become independent financial advisor.
For the past 13 years, John has worked with families, individuals and foundations as an independent financial advisor providing affluent investors with financial and investment perspective for current realities and future goals and objectives. John brings perspective to long-term investment horizons and short-term market volatility, providing context to buy, sell or hold investment decisions. Through Industrial Alliance Securities and the ViewStone team, John offers clients his knowledge and expertise providing financial solutions that address each unique client situation. While many investors have similar investment objectives, each client has special and specific opportunities and challenges that they face in their financial lives. To best understand this, John engages in client-focused conversations and questions as he takes the time to learn about each client’s situation. John takes a holistic perspective of a client’s financial life, and not solely the investment portfolio. This ensures that key issues are identified, prioritized and plans are put into action, providing the foundation that helps clients achieve their goals.
